A midlife dip in financial confidence
There’s a dip in financial confidence when Brits reach their 50s, according to newly published research. Only 33% of people aged 50-59 feel positive that they will retire comfortably. This is the lowest of any age group, with 49% of young adults and 46% of over-60s feeling confident about retirement. Meanwhile, people aged 18-49 spend nearly £300 annually on anti-ageing products, almost three times the amount spent by those in their 50s and more than four times that of those aged 60+. Aegon, which commissioned the research, said the findings highlight a complex relationship with ageing, shaped by both appearance and anxiety, especially in the face of financial uncertainty.
